Hi katcopass,
That sounds like you might have a hard drive failing. To make sure we should run a hard drive diagnostic.
To access the diagnostic menu you will want to start tapping the ESC key as soon as you turn on the power and it should bring you to the boot menu. Press F2 there and it will bring you to the diagnostics.
If the diagnostic fails it should give you a 24-character Failure ID; in that case you will want to copy it down exactly and call Customer Support. Depending on the model there are three main numbers:
- For Home and Home Office Products, call +1 800 474 6836 (e.g. ENVY, Pavilion, Spectre lines)
- For Business Products, call +1 800 334 5144 (e.g. Prodesk, Probook, Pro tablet lines)
- For Elite Business Products, call +1 866 625 1175 (e.g. Elitedesk, Elitebook, Elitepad lines)
You will need to provide the following information to the answering representative:
- Serial Number
- Product Number
- 24-character Failure ID
Thank you!

Hopefully the disc is not failing, but the error message does say that the computer is having a problem talking to that disc.
Shut down the computer and then turn it back on. As it is first turning on enter into BIOS (by tapping F10 or ESC). Under the Advanced or Diagnostic tab you should find the facility to run a test on the Hard Drive. Post back with the details of any error messages.

I don't understand, I'm not good at that stuff. I did push F10 but no bios there. I did run diagnosis and did say prob, but don't understand how it could be bad it's only a year old and not used much and just for Web searching, no files or videos or pics, nothing but Web surfing
