Hi,
Run a complete set of hardware diagnostics before attempting a BIOS update. Let's make sure that your PC is stable.
There are two BIOS updates posted for your PC. Look here.
HP Envy 17", i7-8550u,16GB, 512GB NVMe, 4K screen, Windows 11 x64
Custom PC - Z690, i9-12900K, 32GB DDR5 5600, dual 512 GB NVMe, gen4 2 TB m.2 SSD, 4K screen, OC'd to 5 Ghz, NVIDIA 3080 10GB

Hi,
The BIOS update is at the link that I had posted for you. If you can't find it, then I'll ask a HP moderator to help you.
Bottom line: If your PC is not at a HP version 8 BIOS or higher then the NVIDIA GTX 1050 is not going to work. That's why your PC is stuck at the HP screen.

Hi
there is bios update for you pc but is for windows 8. I dont know how it work with windows 7 ?? I have this bios with windows 10 and it is working perfectly.
Is secure boot disabled in bios?
I have same motherboard and gtx 1060 installed and it is working without any problems. My cpu is newer generation i5 3550P. I updated my bios before new gpu and also updated some others drivers but this drivers are maybe not necessary to update.

Getting WIN 8 is not a solution. Your motherboard does not have the proper BIOS level, and is not upgradeable to the level required. The Hp p7-1262 is a vintage Jun 2012 unit, with Legacy BIOS. BIOS levels changed with the newer production motherboards in Oct 2012. The GTX 1050 is UEFI vBIOS, Oct 2016.

Hi,
Download the HP version 8 BIOS (sp64139) for your PC and see if it will install. You might get a rejection since you don't have W8. If that occurs then unzip the BIOS download and you should find "safuwin.exe". Right mouse click and run as administration.
