Re: Hyper-Threading

Hi:

I don't know.

As you know, if you format a floppy disk, you should be able to double click on it, and see a blank disk.

Maybe try another blank floppy disk?

You're going to have to figure that one out on your own, I'm afraid.

Re: Hyper-Threading

[ Edited ]

Figured it out. I was mad so me and my friend have took out Floppy Drive of my case and open it. We found 2 tons of dust inside, now it's working normally. I've done what you said. My Microcode version was 1.07, now it's 1.09 and I'm still having error message every time I reboot my PC. I think it will stay that way. Can you just help me with this: where should I look for my processor stepping except BIOS and bentchmark programs? Any other way to find out my CPU stepping?

Thanks!

Dean

Re: Hyper-Threading

Hi, Dean:

Glad you got it sorted out but sorry the microcode update didn't fix the issue.

I guess you will have to live with it as it is (but hitting F1 every time to continue booting would drive me nuts).

The only tool I am familiar with is the Intel Processor ID tool--and you already know about that one,

If you can ever get your hands on a SL6WG 3.2 processor, I guarantee that one will work just right with no error.

Re: Hyper-Threading

I was looking for a CPU u said it would be good but I saw that Northwood's litography is 130 and litography of my CPU is 90. Does it make any problem installing it to my motherboard? It's not the size, right??

Re: Hyper-Threading

Hi, Dean:

That doesn't matter. Sometimes it does, but not in this case.

This is the one you want...I always used SL6 WG because they worked 100% of the time for me.
