PavilionAll-in-one 24
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Having bought a new HP pavilion 24 I tried to transfer (via thumbstick) files from old Dell W7 to new HP W10. I cannot find how to download thumbstick and put files where I want them. Am rather ignorant, so please words of two syllables only.

Hi,

What is your Pavilion 24 AiO, Must be 24-something. Please look at its label at the back. Normally you

(a) put the USB key (thumbstick) to USB port,

(b) Open File Explorer (old Windows Explorer) - double click icon the same way before. (*)

(c) Move files from thumbstick to a folder exactly like the old Windows 7 way.

(*) If you can't find the icon, please try

(1) Hit Windows key,

(2) Type file in the search field

(3) Click File Explorer.

Regards.

Thyanks for that, I can now see the items I put on the Thumbstick on the new computer, but I can't see how to actually down load to it. It's a Pavilion 24-212na by the way (if that helps)

Thanks for your help.

Point the mouse-pointer at a file (or a folder) on the view of the USB memory-stick.

Click with the second mouse button on the file/folder.

Choose 'Copy'.

Move the mouse-pointer to the 'Documents' word along the left-edge of the view.

Click with the second mouse button on that word.

Choose 'Paste'.

Repeat for other documents.

If you choose the 'Copy' option on a picture, then move the mouse-pointer to the word 'Pictures', and then do the similar "paste".

If you choose the 'Copy' option on a MP3 file, then move the mouse-pointer to the word 'Music', and then do the similar "paste".

Sorry that I could not avoid a few 3-syllable words (mem-o-ry, sim-i-lar, doc-u-ments, and syl-la-ble).
