Hi,
I recently had to replace the motherboard on a HP Compaq Elite 8300 CMT with a purchased used board. The Bios, which I have updated to the latest version is not saving the new information I enter, which I understand legitimizes my Windows 10 OS already on my SSD. My problem is that after I boot to the Bios and then Ctrl A, go to Security then down to System ID's where I enter the Serial, Product ID, Operating System Image, and Feature Byte numbers, whilst it allows me to overtype the relevant fields and retains the information after F10 (accept), it does not retain the information after save and exit. Thus, when I boot normally and check Control Panel, System it tells me to connect to the internet to activate Windows. When I shut down and reboot to the Bios, there under System Information is all the old information ID's that I had erased pertaining to the system that contained this motherboard. When I then go to Security, System ID's all the new information I have entered has been replaced back to the old. Do I have to reinstall the OS or what? Also there is a family name field that has information entered but I can find nothing online about what should or could be changed here. The UUID field is greyed out.
