I have a computer that has next to nothing on it. Sat in box for a long time. I wanted to upload Windows 10 but when I try, I get that message saying my drive D does not have enough space. Upon investigation I found a lot of preloaded files. Can I safely remove them to obtain my space back? Thank you.

Thank you for the additional information, @CherCare. It is exactly what I needed.
Here is a guide from Microsoft that shows the system requirements for Win 10. Your system is very good. Also, here is a guide that will help you installing Win 10.
As I said in my original post, you will install Win 10 on the "C" partition.
Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

@CherCare, welcome to the forum.
The "D" partition is normally the HP Recovery media. Therefore, if you haven't done so you should make the Recovery disks. This will allow you to recover the system if you ever have major problems. The installation disk should be taking you to the "C" partition.
When requesting help you should always include the make/model (i.e. p6-xxxx) of the computer and/or monitor. This information is necessary for us to review the specifications of them. When I have the full model I will help you further.
