Suddenly my computer won't start up anymore...

The led on the front side lights up 7 times, then a short pause, then 7 blinks again and so on.

What to do???

Hello Marielle

Found some help for you at this HP site for PC's made in 2016.

Did not see seven LED blinks but there is a 5.2 blink code as follows:

Controller is missing appropriate ROM.
  1. Remove any recently inserted Hardware.
  2. Reset CMOS.
  3. Update BIOS while affected components are removed.
  4. Test known good component.
  5. Replace component or system board as needed.

If no familiar cause apply then contact HP for fix. Too many things cause this problem. Some HP recommend fix above may not help.

Error code is vague.

Hi, thanks for your reaction.

I contacted HP and they wanted me to send my computer to them. They would probably reinstall Windows.

But I first had to get my files of the hard drive, so I went to a repairer.

The repairer first wanted to check the power adapter. And that was a good idea: with an other power adapter the pc started up again :-).

So: the power adapter was broken...

HP will send me a new one (within garantee).

Kind regards, Marielle
