Pavilion a6442p
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I'm new to the forums so sorry if this post has been miscategorized! I've been doing some research on upgrading my HP Pavilion a6442p RAM memory. I've checked the specifications page and it says,

"Memory upgrade information

  • Dual channel memory architecture

  • Four 240-pin DDR2 DIMM sockets

  • Supported DIMM types:

    • PC2-5300 (667 MHz)

    • PC2-6400 (800 MHz)

  • Non-ECC memory only, unbuffered

  • Supports 2GB DDR2 DIMMs

  • Supports up to 8 GB on 64 bit PCs

  • Supports up to 4 GB* on 32 bit PCs

*32-bit operating systems cannot address a full 4.0 GB of memory."

I want to see if I can go with the 8GB upgrade. I looked around on Google and only found one sale from Newegg that had desktop memory the was 4, 2GB sticks. Under the specs for the sticks, it said,"Please note that this item can not work in any intel cpu motherboard". Is this size RAM upgrade even compatible with my system? Thank you.

@7YL3R, welcome to the forum.

Since HP has their motherboards made to their specs, I don't believe that memory for an AMD motherboard would work for you.

Here is the memory that is recommended by Crucial Memory.  If Crucial recommends its memory it is guaranteed to work or it will be replaced at no additional cost to you.  They make very good memory for OEM computers.
