In the title block for the post it stated Windows 7 but the spec page indicates that PC came with Windows 8.  Just to verify - was Windows 7 installed?  That will actually make things more difficult if that is true.

I'm not an HP employee.

Hi, @MstrBill :

The PC definitely came from the factory with W8 64 bit installed.

So, if the person whose PC you are working on had W7 installed, then you would have to get the W7 installation media and product key from the user.

You can order a W8 recovery kit for that model from the link below.  That would be the only recovery kit available.

http://support.hp.com/us-en/mediaorder/HP-Pavilion-p6-2300-Desktop-PC-series/5295969/model/5307258/s...

A free option would be to make your own plain W8 64 bit installation media by downloading this file.

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B0W9PBigPy94aVJWSndyTFNFMzg/edit?pli=1

This media will work with the W8 product key in the PC's BIOS.

You can use this tool to transfer the ISO file to a DVD or 4 GB USB flash drive.  The tool will make either media bootable.

Then you can install the drivers and available software from the p6-2326s support page.
