Hi everyone. I bought an off lease computer and wanted to make a set of recovery disks to set up the OS on a new hard drive ,probably a SSD drive . It has the win7 pro key.I have searched everywhere on HP' s website but they all say to go to start and then recovery manager but there is none. I did make a windows backup on a usb drive but I am pretty sure I cannot use that to set up a new hardrive. Any suggestions? Thank you.

You're very welcome.
Something must have happened to the recovery manager software and you can't download it.
I have ordered recovery disks for my HP business desktops and notebooks for years (including an 8000 Elite CMT) and if the PC's were not under warranty, I was charged $10 for a set.
I would imagine the cost hasn't changed much in the last year or so since I ordered some.

Hi:
If you bought a refurbished PC, most likely they wiped the original operating system and installed a clean version of W7 without any recovery manager software or recovery partition.
You should be able to order a set of W7 Pro 64 bit recovery disks directly from HP by calling this number...USA/Canada:
1-800-334-5144
Have the serial number of the PC handy to give to the customer services rep.
A set should cost about $10 delivered via 1st class mail.

Hi. Thank you for responding. The existing hardrive does have a D:recovery partition on it. It is just that there is no recovery manager on windows start. I did read somewhere you can go to windows disk management, right click it as active but I do not want to reformat the C:\ drive and somehow not get Win7 back. If the recovery disks are that cheap I will just order them. Thanks.
