I have older HP Pavilion tower #P6302w win7, latly have been having problem with the audio, the sound would only come out of one speaker so I changed the stereo cord and had both speakers running.Recently it will only play sound though one speaker again but the odd thing is it plays stereo through one speaker, 2 channels one speaker. Have tried removing and reinstalling drivers 2xs.I belive there is an internal problem with the onboard audio. I would like to know if anyone could reccomend two or more PCI soundcards that would run with this chipset AMD Athlon2 x 215 Processor 2.70 Ghz memory 4Ghz. thanks to all that can help.

@ric_, thanks for replying and attempting the troubleshooting steps. I checked the product specifications (http://hp.care/2eNs8Fj) and found the motherboard specifications (http://hp.care/2eNjir9). It shows that there are Two PCI Express x1 slots on the motherboard. So it can accommodate an internal PCI Express x1 sound card. Such audio cards are available at computer stores or even online. Secondly, there are a few external USB sound cards available that should service the purpose. Let me know if you have any questions. 🙂

@ric_, welcome to HP Support Forums. I came across your post and would like to help. I understand that you have an HP Pavilion computer and there is no audio from one of the speakers. Also, you have done a wonderful job of troubleshooting this issue. Before you invest is a new sound card, I recommend you to perform the troubleshooting as described in this link: http://hp.care/2fDaGSX.
Let me know how it goes. Good luck!

Hi,and thanks for responding to my problem, I have used the Sound Troubleshooter on the PC and could not find the problem. I even tried removing the current audio driver and in Bios disabled the onboard audio and installing a PCI Sound Blaster card I had and was not using. When I tried to install the driver from the SB audio disk it loaded about half way and stopped loading so I thought that it may not be compatable with this system. The soundcard and driver were more then 10 years old so that may have been the problem. I returned the PC audio back to onboard and still have left and right channels coming from one speaker .My question is does anyone know 2/3 audiocards that will run on my PC that i can use to get the audio corrected. HP Pavilion P6302w AMD Athlon 2 x2 215 proc. 2.70 win7 64. thanks for your help.
