HP Pavillion p6 2000-ukm
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi,

i have a hp pavillion p6 2000 ukm. Recently i started getting error messages about my HDD saying it was failing. I recently bought a new HDD for my pc. I hooked it up correctly and it said i needed recovery disc/ boot disc.

To my knowledge when i bought this pc there was no windows 7 disc. I know on desktops now you create your own.

My question is.... how do i get windows 7 installed on my new hdd when i hook it up? I am just looking for the iso windows 7 i think its called, but i cant find any .iso file.  Im just looking to install windows 7 on my new HDD i dont need any of my other files like music etc. Im looking to get my HDD installed with windows 7 where it has IE and i can go back to  installing everything i previously had. Should u be using "create a system image"? Its a large file and probably requires 7+ dvd discs is it my only option? I have my 25 key windows 7 as well.

Any help is aprreciated thanks.

Hello,

to create recovery media yes you need 7+ disk,

instead ad call HP and get the OEM disks where you need not have to hav product key as well

Hi thanks for the quick reply,

I think theres a problem with the OEM discs in my situation.

1. My pc is out of warranty.

2. When i try and find oem discs on the hp website, i type in my country "Ireland" then i directed to a page that has "404" which is an error message as far as i know. When i try to find the discs on the redirected page i cannot find them anywhere.

3. Beacuse my desktop is out of warranty, how much would it cost to get a new OEM disc shipped out, or is it just worth my while going and buying 7+ dvd discs and creating a "system image"?

thanks for the help
