I believe there was an update to email a few days ago. Since then I keep receiving unrequested vocal announcements informing me of the amount of emails I have received. Not just oneortwo but a cumulative number such as 105 emails received. How do I turn this feature off?

It might be possible to turn that feature off. What software is being used that retrieves the emails.

Let me ask this in a different manner. If using Yahoo, do you use a web interface, in other words are you using a browser when doing email?

While using Yahoo as the email client, how do you actually see the emails? Are you using a webrowser, software on the computer such as Outlook ( which was mentioned ) or some other means. Something such as AOL annouces email. Are you using AOL?
BTW: did you setup the email interface or did someone do it for you?
