HP Pavilion 500-141ea
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have HP Pavilion 500-141ea Desktop PC, Purchased 2014.03.27, Product no. D7D35EA#ABU.

Motherboard Manu: MSI, Model: 2AE0 (P0). Current BIOS is AMI 80.35 dated 2013.07.10

  Win 10 (64bit)

Online Support suggests that this desktop should be updated to two versions...

     1) HP Consumer Desktop PC BIOS Update (ROM Family SSID 2AE0) 80.52 Rev.A 5.1 MB Nov 12, 2015

     2) HP System Desktop BIOS Update for 2013 HP Pavilion 500-axx PC PC models(with a 2AE0 ROM Family) 80.51 Rev.A 2.9 MB  Nov 4, 2015

How can I tell which one I should use?

Greetings,

80.52 is the latest and will include previous update revisions.

Download the update manually. Don't use HPSA.

Cheers!

Hi,

You're welcome

Hope all goes well.

BIOS updates can be problematic.

Unpatched security flaws have been discovered when using automated OEM software updates from Dell, Lenovo, and HP. I am referring to HP Support Assistant on HP.

A manual download and install is a best practice in this case.

Jay,

Only just got round to doing this.

 Fortunately all went well.

As you alluded to, I also have an on going problem with HP Support Asistant, but I will post a new question.

 Thanks for your help,
