Presario SR5249UK
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi all,

I have a Presario SR5249UK that I'm trying to install Vista or 7 on a new hard drive. This is the product:

http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/Compaq-Presario-SR5000-Desktop-PC-series/3548178/model/3604798/p...

It's running BIOS version 5.21 on the P5LP-LE (Leonite2) motherboard:

http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01080268

I have tried to install XP, Vista and 7 however in all 3 cases during setup I get a blue screen after the initial copying files part which states "The BIOS in your system is not fully ACPI compliant. Please contact your system vendor for an updated BIOS".

I notice that there is a 5.23 version of the BIOS (which may or may not solve this?) but I can't find a way to update the BIOS because it's a Windows program and I can't install Windows in the first place. I've tried going through all BIOS settings including resetting to defaults. No joy.

Does anyone have a solution for this?

Thanks very much
