i did a systems restore on my desk top to sell it, so i was deleting all personal files.  but after hours later all i have is a black screen and a spinning white circle.

Welcome to HP Forums and Thanks for the post. 

 

I understand that you performed a system reset on your computer and your computer is stuck at a black screen with the spinning circle. 

Not to worry, I will be glad to help. 

Have you run any system test on your computer?

Do you have any external devices connected to your computer?

 

Recommend you do a hard reset on the computer. 

Turn the computer On and keep tapping F2 repeatedly on startup to enter System diagnostics. 

Run a system test on your computer. Click here

If all the test pass, please try this interactive guided troubleshooter to resolve the issue. Click here
