Hi
I have upgraded an rp5700 with a new processor "Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E7500" and I am getting the following error when booting the machine:
1801-Microcode Update Error
Missing or Invalid Processor Microcode Update. Please contact
Hewlett-Packard Company for a new Microcode Update to support the
new Processor Stepping.
You can force boot by pressing F1, but can anyone point me in the right direction to solve this problem/update the Microcode please?
Thanks in advance

Hi:
You have to install the microcode update from the link below.
http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=3375929&swItemId=vc_90213_1&swEnvOid=4053
You will also find that your processor's FSB is only running at half speed.
You will need to run this utility and max out the multiplier everytime you boot into Windows, or create a batch file to auto run the program.

Thank you very much for your help, my friend.
But the truth is that I do not know how to update the BIOS by means of USB ...
I already downloaded the files but I do not know how to update this bios.
There will be some video of how should I do it ??
Thank you very much for your help.

You're very welcome.
Yes, it is complicated.
I am going to try and make it easy for you...
Here is all the info you should need to update the microcode for your rp5700.
I zipped up and attached the utility to make a bootable USB flash drive below, the DOS system files you need, as well as the rp5700 microcode update files.
Download and unzip the files I attached.
1. You make the bootable USB flash drive first by running sp27608.
2. After the utility has formatted the drive and made it bootable, copy the DOS system files to the USB flash drive, then copy the Microcode update files to the USB flash drive.
Note: Copy the all the files in the DOS command folder and the Microcode file folder to the flash drive, not the folders themselves.
3. Put the flash drive in the PC, turn it on, and the PC should boot to the usb flash drive.
4. At the command prompt, type Flashbin.exe and hit the enter key.
Follow the on screen instructions to update the microcode.

Thank you very much my friend, your explanation is very good.
Do all the steps to follow, and said "Update done, Restart the system so that the effects arise"
Now I only have to put the new processor, and wait until I get no error.
I'll be letting you know any questions, my friend.
Excuse my bad english

I removed the E7500 processor, because of the fear I caused when I looked at the error.
And fans cooling the processor is very accelerated.
So remove the Processor and put back the one that had.
The fans do not sound loud, like when I put the E7500 processor.

Bad News :smileysad:, The Cpu makes a sound like a whistle "Piiiiii" and showed me the error ...
And the fan speeds up a lot ...
I am beginning to believe that I buy a processor not suitable for this motherboard
But how can the computer work normally when I press the "f1"
The only bad thing is that the fan that refreshes the processor is greatly accelerated.

Run the microcode update again with the E7500 installed, and see if that makes a difference.
And yes, I thought you already knew that none of the Wolfdale processors are supported.
However normally the microcode update and that utility I posted yesterday will allow them to function.
The best processor you can install for a problem-free upgrade in that machine is the Conroe E6700 2.66 GHz processor.

Hello friend, I hope you are well.
Well the truth is that with the E7500 processor installed. He does not let me follow the steps
It just says "Try starting from USB, STARTING ...
"
And then a message where he sends me to restart the PC. Pressing the following buttons.
"Crtl + Alt + Delete"
You can send me a message with your mail to use Team Viewer and see how I do the steps you told me ... to see if I'm doing something wrong myself.
Please help 😞
