I am having problems installing the latest Reader software version 10. I have downloaded the latest version from the Adobe site, but when I try to install I am advised that I can only have 1 version running and yet there are no more versions of Adobe running. However there is another PDF type of programme installed, which I would prefer not to use, as my PDF preference.
I am new to this forum having just purchased a new HPE595 which is running Windows 7.
Your help would be much appreciated.

Kudos. I am sorry but I am unable to get the download from Adobe web site to run thru to completion and hence Adobe Reader is not even listed as an option under the defaults.

Kudos.
I have just tried to run the download from Adobe and get the following message:
'Only a single instance of this application can run' and its showing within a box marked UI_Readerinstaller.
Help David

Kudos.
Sorry to come back to you, but still no further forward. I have even looked at a Forum by Adobe and other people have had the same problems or very similar.

Hello dsc8w, I have encountered this issue in the past with other applications, not Adobe Reader.
I managed to search the entire computer, with Windows Explorer manually, and also found some registry entries that I deleted. There also may be some installation software in a temporary folder somewhere on the system that is corrupted.
You may need to boot into safe mode to be able to delete some of these files. I had to do this as well on some of the files.
After I removed all the files I could locate associated with these applications that would not install properly, I was able to install the application without any further issues.
Just a thought.
