Re: Caps, Scroll and Num Lock Notification - How to disable

I'm not sure what version of Windows you are running as steps are slightly different depending on the version.

However, these steps should help resolve your issue

Go to the Control panel and select Keyboard.

Select the Key settings Tab.

Scroll down to Caps lock and double click it.

Uncheck the box marked Displays CAPS Lock status on screen.

Now if the above doesn't resolve the issue, without knowing more information about your setup is to have you modify the registry key that handles the notification. The notification is handled by the BTTray.exe process.

1. Navigate to your regedit

2. Find the following key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Widcomm > BTConfig > General > KeyIndication

3. Change the value of "KeyIndication" from 1 to 0

4. Reboot

5. Test

Re: Caps, Scroll and Num Lock Notification - How to disable

I have the exact same problem... that same annoying "1 A arrow" thing pops up when I acidentally press it while gaming and forces my game to minimize... very god **bleep** annoying, I've tried every single thing online to disable it and none work!!!!!!

I've looked for the "key settings" tab in keyboard, doesn't exist...

I've looked for the "Widcomm" in regedit, doesn't exist...

All other explainations online don't work or don't exist on my windows 7..

It's obviously a HP related thing, yet everyone asking about how to turn it off get fobbed off on one of those other solutiosn that don't work, then get ignored after they clearly say it didnt fix the issue... what gives?

HOW DO I TURN THAT POP UP OFF HP???! HELP!

Re: Caps, Scroll and Num Lock Notification - How to disable

C:\Program Files (x86)\Hewlett-Packard\Shared

Find hpCaslNotification.exe and rename it.

Then open task manager and kill this process.

You have to rename the file, simplly killing won't work because hphotkeymonitor service runs it every time you press caps lock, scroll lock or num lock.
