I have a Compaq Presario, S6220WM, WINV 5.1, SP3, XP OS, IE8. (Desktop) My problem starts when I enter the "Administrative Tools" application from the "Control Panel". (Never tried to enter it from any other location.) When the "Tools" screen appears, mine shows 8 "sub"-applications on it. I can OPEN, WORK WITH, and CLOSE all of them except for "Component Services" It will partially open, then freeze. I can work with any other application, but that screen remains. Another thing, any other application that I use over it, will close completely EXCEPT for the portion that was the same size of the "Services" screen, it just covers it up. I believe I could continue to do that for as long as I wanted to. BUT instead, I enter alt-ctrl-del and get rid of all of it. I need help.

Hello lulu0124, Can you advise which version operating system you are using currently.
The specifications show is could have one a few different versions.
This appears to be a common issue.
Here is a link to a site that can provide some information and a download link to resolve this issue.
Hope this helps.

Hi cOrnel,
I write this while being somewhat confused. Can't see where the link in your posting has anything to do with my problem. In part of the link is written, "a remote computer - l". My machine isn't connected to a remote computer. Also, the 2 postings following yours to me, have the same PROBLEM "Lead-in-Line". I don't see where their problems are related to the COMPONENT SERVICES APPLICATION problem that I have. That is by itself, a "stand-alone" problem. I feel that my problem is confusing enough.
Thanks,
Mato Paha

Hi cOrnel,
It's me again. I still have the same problem. There have been several postings relating to my question, but I still am no wiser than I was when I started. Find below some information that relates to the last posting.
{Please understand, that as I write this, I am fully aware of the Rules of Participation. I feel that in WendyM's message to me, she felt that I had "strayed away" from those rules. Believe me, that was not my intent.
I have been trying to get an answer to my question since December. Yes, I have received a couple responses, but I have never indicated that my "problem" was solved. In fact, I feel that my question was "thrown up into the air to see if someone would get lucky and come up with an answer". I don't feel that those "in the know" followed up to make sure that my question was being given the attention it deserved. NO one asked me if I was happy with the service I had received.
Thanks
Mato Paha

I am at the point now that I really don't know what the Forum Staff wants me to do. Was my question unworthy of staff attention, or did someone assume that I should be knowledgeable enough to answer my own question?
I am very upset. Not with you.
Thanks

Hello clovis, If you have, or can acquire, a Windows XP disk, you might try to restore any corrupted or missing system files.
If you have a Windows XP disk, insert it in the optical drive, and go to Start, Run and in the run box, type sfc /scannow, with a space between the sfc and the /.
The system should run this Utitlity and compare the system files on your computer with the original files on the Windows XP disk and replace any that are missing or corrupt.
This may take a while, and may not resolve the issue. It may take a fresh install of the Windows XP operating system to recover from this issue.

Thank you MrMatthew. I'll keep the complaint link in mind, and try to find an answer on my own. Maybe I'll have better luck next time.
Respectfully,
Mato Paha

Thanks Hanspuppa,
Don't have XP Disc. If I did, it sounds like it would be WAY over my head. Thanks for the sincere concern.
Respectfully,
Mato Paha
