Computer will not update Explorer 8

My four month HP with Windows 7 will not update to Explorer 8 and Yahoo/ATT is asking that I update my browser. When I attempt this, I get a pop up window informing me that "This installation does not support your system architecture 32 /64 Bits)."

Any comments?
