Avast found a virus in Endprocess.exe and I accidentally erased the file. I've already downloaded it again but I don't know where must I move the file. Where must it be?

Hi,
You need to put the file in C:\HP\BIN

It seems that I erased the entire file: HP\BIN\endprocess.exe, so I can´t find the folder HP\BIN. My computer is a COMPAQ Presario CQ42 with Windows 7 and I've seen that the HP folder is not the same as in other versions. When I acces the folder HP I only find two other folders: Common and HP Software updates. What should I do?

C:\HP\BIN is a hidden folder. Be sure you've allowed hidden and also system folders and files to be visible.
My HP system is new and vanilla, almost. I do not have the endprocess.exe file anywhere. The hidden folder HP\BIN contains lightscribe stuff. I did a google and got lots of unclear info on the file. Apparently can be found in a lot of programs as part of the install routine.
My suggestion is to tuck away the file until some program starts squawking. Then you'll know whether to reinstall that program or find where the program expects to locate endprocess.exe.

Right, it was hidden. I've already found the HP\BIN folder. And I agree: it is not clear enough if the end\process.exe is really useful or not. At least I've recovered it and I know where it should be. I'll follow the advice and I'll leave it untouched until I find if I'm really having problems. Thanks both for your help!

Hi, where did you get the endprocess.exe file? I have exactly the same problem as you right now. Avast found a virus in the file.
I think it´s a file used in the shutdown sequence that closes the applications and processes. I think so because my Laptop doesn´t shutdown properly when is plugged to AC (but it does when I´m using the batteries).
I´ve been having this issue since last week, and now Avast found a virus in that file,
So, I will appreciate if you can tellme where I can find endproces.exe, so I can recover it.
Thanks in advance
PS: sorry for my english, I´m from Argentina
Bye!!

Hi,
Open Avasts main menu, click Maintenance, click Virus Chest, right click on Endprocess.exe and select Restore.

I've seen the comments on here and avast forums but am not sure what action to take. I've chosen to ignore it for now but wonder if I should delete and then, if needed, restore with a known safe version of the file from HP. I know there's been talk about what this might be used for but is there anything from HP that would confirm what programs etc use this file?
Any help greatly appreciated.

In my case, clock started to work erratically and removing this fixed the problem. Drove me nuts since I thought it was originally a hardware problem.
I downloaded all the HP utilities to reinstall and this file was not part of the distribution.
