Help and Support Center using desktop icon

Desktop a700y Windows XP-pro. Got '05 new. Just tried to get thru to HP tech by using Icon on desktop for Help and Support center. The only way to get thru is to signon line thru windows or msn. Tried Using the HP Application recovery no luck.

Click on Icon on desktop- open HP help and Support center- Connect to customer support- Start a new request- fill out form- click connect to a support analyst----- I get a window that says Server Connection required /HP Instant Support is currently unvailable Try again later. Also tried services.msc/ru7n also HHCTRL.OCX/run to no avail. Was on I/M with HP tech support for 2-hours no luck with them at all

Hopein' for some ideas

Re: Help and Support Center using desktop icon

USo what exactly is the problem with your PC.

Is it that the help and support software is not working?

Re: Help and Support Center using desktop icon

Hey erico, Thanks for getting back.

Yes the software program is the problem. Once I finally click on connect to a supp-tech I get that window that says unable to connect try later. As I said earlier I have tryed using the App. Recovery For windows xp and removing Help and Support Additions. Did not work. Yea I know its a small problem. Instead I go on line and connect though hp.com/support. Not to bad mouth a free service. "BUT" it would be nice if a company is going to out source a service. Hire people that have basic computer skills and that can read. (Sorry had to say it)

Could live with it the way it is. But would like it the way it was.

Well it appears that the HP Help and Support program is no longer supported for desktops. They still have it for laptops/notebooks. Read at the bottom of web page. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Re: Help and Support Center using desktop icon

Man, am I glad to find out that it isn't just me that can't seem to get help that does anything to resolve my issues through HP!  Sorry if that sounded rude, it wasn't meant to be.  It's just that I purchased my HP6532f on 09-11-08 and two weeks later, I tried to run "diskcheck" and my whole computer crashed!!  I have since done numerous recoveries and 9 - count 'em, NINE - full system restores AND STILL IT ISN'T WORKING PROPERLY!  HP won't do one thing to correct it, to attempt to fix it, to replace it, NOTHING except to continue sending me back to support.   That's why my user name is 1_grand_mistake.  Because I'm stuck with a $1000 computer that may or may not work at times.

Re: Help and Support Center using desktop icon

HP Instant Support is no longer available for desktops.  I believe HP Updates has an Help and Support update, updating the help content and removing HP Instant Support.

Re: Help and Support Center using desktop icon

Guess I will just Delete the desktop Icon and just sign-on to the web and go the route of hp.com/support.

I am also guessing the most violent way would to compltely run the disk's that came from hp but thats to far out there for me.

Thanks for your help.
