Keyboard, Mouse & Seagate Freeagent Go Issues after windows 7 upgrade (64 bit)

After my Windows 7 upgrade these devices n longer work correctly.

Freeagent go I can see it and transfer data to it but if I try to use either Seagate's or Windows 7's backup feature I get either a blue screen or a system reboot. I've updated my Seagate & HP drivers without success.

Keyboard occasionally, the computer seems to loose contact with the keyboard. I'll be typing and nothing will appear onscreen. Sometimes it fills all the missing data back in, sometimes I need to reenter the data. My son notices it especially if he is doing any online games involving reparative keystrokes.

Mouse  Similar issue to the key board. At times I'll click the mouse several items and nothing will happen. Sometimes it will then respond tot he multiple clicks, sometimes I need to reclick on the item. I've also noticed that the pointer will suddenly move to and lock either to the right side or top off the monitor screen. When that happens, I cannot move the pointer for up to 60 seconds.

I've installed, uninstalled and reinstalled updated drivers without success. HP tech support has not been much help. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Re: Keyboard, Mouse & Seagate Freeagent Go Issues after windows 7 upgrade (64 bit)

I have a P6130Y. I did download this patch, let it install and rebooted my computer. I still have the same issues . . . intermittent keyboard & mouse issues as well as a blue screen when I try to backup the system.

I spoke to HP at length and they told me my only option is to reinstall Vista and wait a see if a repair comes out . . . not real happy with this response from a company I've used extensively.

[ Edited ]

When you see the bluescreen, what stop code are you getting?

STOP: 0x000000??

What driver is flagged?

Are you using onboard video or are you using a graphics up card that you installed from a 3rd party? If you're using graphics up, does it happen if you remove it and use the onboard graphics?

Did the keyboard/mouse come with the system or are you using a 3rd party keyboard/mouse? Is this a PS/2 or USB KB/Mouse?

Re: Keyboard, Mouse & Seagate Freeagent Go Issues after windows 7 upgrade (64 bit)

I just threw out all my error messages this AM with the recycling. If I remember correctly they did start out as you indicated and I'm told they indicated a video error.

I am using the onboard NVIDIA that came with the system. I've asked several PC people if they thought an after market video card would help. No consistant feedback on that issue.

I am also using the original mouse & keyboard that came with the system. The entire system is only about 4 1/2 months old and worked fine under Vista.

Re: Keyboard, Mouse & Seagate Freeagent Go Issues after windows 7 upgrade (64 bit)

Did you try the latest driver from Windows Update?

windowsupdate.microsoft.com   (Check for updates, opt in on all recommended and optional drivers)

If you suspect the driver on Windows Update gives you problems you can try using the inbox drivers (if any)

To do so...

Go to Start, Control Panel, Device Manager, Display adapters, select your graphics card, right mouse click properties, Driver tab, update driver, click Browse for driver, Let me pick from a list and choose the graphics driver that sys... Nvidia....  (Microsoft WDDM 1.x) and then reboot

Re: Keyboard, Mouse & Seagate Freeagent Go Issues after windows 7 upgrade (64 bit)

Someone suggested that this worked for them. See if it works for you

Unplug the system from the network

Go to Device Manager, Network Adapters, select the NVIDIA nForce Network Controller and opt to uninstall it opting to "Delete the driver software for this device" and reboot.

Let the inbox driver or the previous driver Plug and play. Once the lan driver is installed, plug back the network cable.
