Problem w/HP Media Smart Photo Program on HP Pavilion Elite

Hi, first time user here. I do LOTS of photos as "gimmies" for friends and family, especially around the holidays. My computer just pitched a fit recently and will NOT let me look at my photos. I can upload them and see thumbnails but as soon as I try to click back to review them, I get the following message: HP Media Smart Photo Main Program has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. (Apparently it hasn't been available as yet!)  I have tried everything I know, which isn't a lot I must admit. I have Geek Squad coverage but it's Christmas and they can't get to me for more important things - like installing new sales. It doesn't matter I've purchased two from them in two years. Lightning struck one and now I can't review pictures or do anything with pictures on this one. (Which means I can't order some presents that involve pictures stored on THIS computer.) Can anyone help me fix my problem?? I would TRULY appreciate your help! Merry Christmas by the way and God bless you and yours!

Hi,

The first thing I would suggest trying is to use Recovery Manager to reinstall HP MediaSmart Photo - the procedure for using recovery manager to reinstall Software and Drivers is detailed in the document on the link below.

After the reinstallation has completed, restart the PC.

When windows has fully reloaded, open HP MediaSmart Photo and give it a few minutes to index all your photos again and then check if it opens them correctly now.

DP-K, You are my new best friend! You just gave me the best Christmas present yet. I can now LOOK at the photos I've made for friends and send them off to Wolf Camera,  Walgreens, etc to have things printed and get them back in time for Christmas. Also, I can see pictures of a vacation I recently took with my dear husband of 30 years that I haven't been able to view as yet. (We NEVER travel so a trip with him is a gift itself.)  Thanks so much for helping out someone that was truly at wits end - you not only made me happy but several other families as well. My problem is when I edit a photo that I have scanned with my HP deskjet F2430 scanner/printer by cropping the pic when I go to save it I get the same error (program has stopped working and microsoft does not have a fix) or something similar to that.  Then the program closes.

I can crop pictures I down loaded from my phone or camera but I'm trying to digital old family pictures from albums.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
