Hi, Nivek:

You either need to add the SATA AHCI driver at the F6 prompt using a USB FDD, slipstream the driver to a copy of the XP installation disk or go into the BIOS in the Storage Menu, go to Storage Options and change the SATA Emulation from AHCI to IDE.

Save the setting there by hitting the F10 key and again when you exit.

Now XP should install.

After you get it loaded, please post back and I will give you the step by step instructions to load the AHCI driver after you installed XP, so you can change the SATA Emulation mode back to the default of AHCI for best drive performance.

Re: Hp Pro 3400 XP Sp2

At least this time it has not brought the Error and the dark blue screen, it copied files as expected then after restarting it hung in a light blue screen.

How do i proceed

Re: Hp Pro 3400 XP Sp2

Hi:

That I don't know. It should have worked.

OK time to try something else.  Change the BIOS setting back to AHCI.

Read this link about how to slipstream the AHCI drivers into a copy of the XP installation disk. Read the Intel section.

http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-Systems-and/SATA-drivers-for-XP-solution-on-0x000000...

Below is the link to the Intel AHCI drivers. I would slipstream all of them. That way you are sure to have included the right one.  Second download is XP 32 bit.

Re: Hp Pro 3400 XP Sp2

Hi, Nivek:

Try this version of the IMEI driver:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=US&swItem=vc-876...

Try the XP graphics driver directly from Intel:

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=20778&lang=eng&OSVersion=Windows%20XP...

If that IMEI driver doesn't install, you should try to manually install either one of those versions by browsing to the installation folder from the device in the device manager (update driver--manual search) and force the install. Browse to the C:\SWSetup folder with the spXXXXX file number of the download.
