I can't boot up my computer. I get Windows Recovery and it wants me to insert my Windows installation disks.I have System Recovery Disks that come with the HP Pavilion m8100n Media Center but when I insert the first disk I get a message "The PC is not supported by the Recovery Disks." HP won't help. They said I have the correct recovery disk. I have not changed hardware in the computer. I hate this new way where you don't get the real operating system disks when you buy a computer. Does anyone have an answer?

Try removing the cmos battery and wait a few minutes. If that does not help try this recovery option.
Starting the recovery from power up

This is where and how to order the discs:
Order the replacement disc.
While your waiting for it to arrive clean the disc you have. I use Windex but do not use ammonia. Use a soft cloth. Is the disk scratched? If it is, replace it. (Always handle these carefully.) Hold it up to a light source if it has pin holes in it replace it. These will appear as very small white spots on the disc provided your using a white light source.
Are you loading the discs on the BIOs screen for this PC? The first screen to appear? It should say HP or Compaq. The arrangement for the drive loading sequence may have been changed. Enter the BIOs move the CD/DVD drive to the first position then load the discs. You will need to reset it to it's original positions if the disc loads the OS. Write the sequence down, do not rely on memory.
Once the OS has loaded then revert it to the original settings. Do not make other changes here in the BIOs.
