Hi,
I installed the Microsoft updates, which required the system to reboot. Now I cannot boot up. I tried the system recovery, it begins "Searching for Problems" and then it freezes after many hours. I tried using the DVD recovery, similarly, it begins "Searching for Windows Installations" and then it freezes again after many hours. Any help, please!!

Do you have a set of the HP recovery disks for your PC? What model PC are you using? There should be a recovery option at the HP blue screen.

I have an HP Pavilion AMD dual core, 2gb, 500gb 7200 rpm drive.
I do have recovery dvd and I've used it. The problem continues that the "Searching for windows installation" screen runs for hours and then freezes.
I've tried the system recovery from HP blue screen and the "Searching for problems" window run for hours and then freezes.
Thanks for your help in advance.

Boot up the recovery disks and do a recovery. If that doesn't work then boot into the bios (setup) and run some diagnostics.

OK. You need a new hard drive.

I recieved this error BIOHD-8 followed by saying that something has changed in either hardware or software. When I run bios check, the hard drive passes, it's only when i run the HP diagonstics that i get this failed message. Also, the windows recovery says the same thing "something has changed in either hardware or software" and that's why it's unable to boot.
