Georg, welcome to the forum.
Which memory did you buy; brand, etc. I want to make certain that it is compatible. Are you using the original memory or did you replace it?

Georg, thank for the additional information.
From what I can tell, it appears that it is definitely the correct memory. I am not familiar with the brand, however. Some motherboards are very picky when it comes to memory and the brand does matter.
I suggest installing the new memory. Then, you should clear the CMOS (prn. see moss). There is a section in the link that I provided to help with this task. The CMOS is a chip that stores the settings for the BIOS. If they have not been updated when the new memory was installed, the computer won't boot.

Hello there,
You are saying on the title of your message that the drives are not recognized, which drives are you talking about?
Can you boot into BIOS and check if the memory module are detected in there?
Let us know more details.
Thanks,
Regards

Hi again,
Also, try to install only 2 modules of 4GB, see if they are detected, if yes, remove them, and connect the other 2 on the other dimm slots, see if at least they work like that.
Since this unit comes with Windows Vista, I would suggest also, you to check the BIOS version, and if you dont have the latest one, go back to Windows Vista, download this BIOS version and then try to install the memory modules and windows 7 again.

Hi georg859,
Review the below screen in Task Manager and verify the installed memory.
Next, open up the RUN window and enter: MSCONFIG
Be sure that the maximum memory box is unchecked.
If you are using XP mode then as a test, remove it and virtual PC from your system. You might need the bios update if drives are not being recognized.

Hi,
Review the below bios image. With all four dimms installed, each slot should indicate 4GB. Is that what you are seeing?
The other thing you can try is to remove all of the dimms and install just one dimm in slot one and use CPU-Z to review the specifications for the installed dimm. Do this for each of the dimms one at a time to make sure that they are identical.
