Pavillion P6-2378
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Until a week ago Wednesday.  Everything was working fine.  since then the Dell printer is no longer recognized by computer even though the printer settings shows the printer is there.  I talked with Dell and after quite a bit of searching, they felt the problem is in the operating system.  I am not sure I am willing to accept that conclusion at this time.  Can someone please help me!  Please note I am not very computer savvy but I a hoping to get a solution.

Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to help.

I understand that you have an HP Pavilion p6-2378 Desktop PC and a Dell printer is connected it. The printer does not work anymore though the printer settings show the printer is there. We do not have the expertise on Dell printers, but I'll do my best to help you in ensuring that the HP computer is fine.

I would like to know the following information to assist you better:

  • Is the printer connected via USB or a network?
  • If it is connected via USB then please connect the printer to another USB port and check. Also, try using other USB devices and check if they work fine with your HP computer.

Meanwhile, if you wish to repair the operating system then please perform the steps mentioned in this link

NOTE: The above link provides steps for Win8 and is good for Win10 too.

I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Let me know how it goes. Good luck!
