I’m on the lock screen on my HP computer and I cannot type the letter keys. They are locked

I’m on the lock screen on my HP laptop and I cannot type in my passcode because it consist of letters and the letters on the keyboard are not working. Only the numbers are how do I bypass this and restart my computer in order for me to type my password?

Is this a PIN? Asking because PINS, by default, are numeric-only -- unless you go into the settings and change them to allow alphanumeric characters.  So, if you are being prompted for a PIN, it will likely only see numbers being typed.
