I believe this unit can support 2 monitors, but can the monitor be use by itself?

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

 

From what I could find, the HDMI jack on the back is OUTPUT only (to connect the PC to a TV), and thus, the monitor does not have video INPUT jacks.
