After a few weeks of purchasing the HP notebook I noticed a fine horizontal line appear on the screen intermittently. The frequency of this line was visible with usage. Now this line is permanently visible and along with it, I have a vertical line across the display. This does not appear when I use a secondary display. Is this a HDW fault ? How can I have this corrected. Its already over a year since I purchased this unit. Please HELP

Hi @mikekhiantani,
Thanks for stopping by the HP forums. Good day! I reviewed the post about display issues on the computer with a horizontal line going across the screen along with a vertical line.
Superb effort, splendid troubleshooting and commendable diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you on that score. You are a valued HP customer and it is paramount to assist you here. I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you.
For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this:
- Did you try to contact HP phone support when this first happened while the unit was under warranty?
- Did this happen due to normal wear and tear?
- Have you checked if this happens in the bios?
Stupendous troubleshooting by connecting it to an external screen. Kudos to you for a job well done.
I would request you contact HP phone support to get the situation corrected as it is a hardware issue with the computer by following these steps:
Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/
Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect
Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"
Step 4. Scroll down and click: HP contact options - click on Get phone number, Case number and phone number appear.
They will be happy to assist you immediately. If the unit is under warranty repair services is taken care of by the manufacturer’s warranty.
Hope this helps. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. Please reach out for any issues and I'll always be there to assist you.
To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help.

Take care now and have a splendid week ahead.
