Hello everyone! I'm experiencing an issue with my HP display (Pavilion 23xi): I get no video output until the operating system is fully loaded. This means that I can't browse my bios, choose a boot device or manage my bootloader and so on, since the screen is black, with orange power led. Then, when Windows is booted, the screen works good.
I've tried to connect many PCs to the display, with various operating systems, with the same result.
Any suggestion? Thanks.

Hi @Rudolf_D92
Welcome to the HP Forums!
This is a wonderful place to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips.
I reviewed your post and understand that you are not getting any display on the monitor until the operating system is loaded completely.
I’d love to help!
In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.
- When was the last time the monitor was working fine?
- How it the monitor connected to your computer? (HDMI/VGA)
- Have you made any software or hardware changes on the computer?
- Have you performed any troubleshooting steps before posting?
Alternately, you can also download and install the driver for the monitor from the below link and check it if resolves the issue.
Let me know how it goes. Awaiting your reply!

Hello, thank you for answering.
1) Unfortunately I don't remembre this. It came to my attention when I needed to use the Bios;
2) It is connected through HDMI, but also with the other ports the issue shows up;
3) I don't think this is relevant, because the issue shows up with every PC I try to connect.
4) I tried to use all the ports and many PCs. The only time I managed to get to the bios was when I physically unpluged the video card and connected the monitor to the integrated VGA.
Moreover, I found out that it is impossible to get video output from my notebook connected to HDMI, even when Windows is loaded!
Thank you, regards

Hi @Rudolf_D92
Follow below steps and check if it helps.
Step 1. Unplug the power cord from the back of the monitor and the wall
Step 2. Hold the power button down for at least one minute
Step 3. Plug the power cord back into the monitor and then into the wall outlet (not a power bar or surge protector)
Step 4. Press the Menu button on the monitor
Step 5. Navigate to the Factory Reset option and select it
Let me know how it goes.
