hp z420
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

We had a workstation fail and I was looking at a used z420. I can't find a one piece of info that puts some light on cards that will work above and beyond the Quadra. We have a GTX 745 and GTX 750ti that we can use.

Anybody have an idea what works?

Thanks

Thanks! The power supply should not be an issue with the low watt card. I don't have the computer and we don't want to buy it unless we know the cards will work. Going to have to check further to see it's compatitble. In the past we have had lots of problems with HP motherboard and I can't find anybody that owns z420

Thanks again.

Franklinm, welcome to the forum.

Here is the Maintenance and Service Guide for the computer.  On Page 33 it discusses, not the exact video cards, but the wattage that is supported.  The computer comes with either a 400W or 600W power supply unit (PSU).  This will make a difference in which cards will work.  Also, the two cards that you mention in your post both require UEFI in the motherboard instead of a standard BIOS.  You can check the BIOS to see if it is UEFI.  If it is, the cards should work from what I can see in the Guide.
