Example: Pavilion 23-q116
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I need to add a 3rd monitor.  Have done so with an HDMI splitter, but Control Panel/Display does does recognize/detect it.  It only shows 2 monitors with #1 being the monitor of the actual computer, and the 2 attached monitors both are identified as #2.

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

I can't see how an HDMI splitter would work, as you need two independent video channels to power two monitors, not the same channel replicated through a hardware splitter.

And alternative, that I use and works very well, it to get  USB-to-VGA adapter or USB-to-HDMI adapter.  Those accept the video signal through a USB port and route that to a monitor.

Good Luck

Already have one monitor on a VGA to HDMI adapter.  Perhaps the USB to VGA or USB to HDMI is worth a try
