Probook 6550b
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

My computer will register the RAM in BIOS but will not BOOT win7 64bit  in any way.My BIOS is REV 68CDE F-50

the newest version!! any help from anyone would help HP sucks on Support!

Hi:

 

I have found that HP notebooks are very particular regarding what memory you install.

 

They love low density memory, and belch when you feed them anything else.

 

If you installed memory modules with 4 black memory chips on each side of the board and not 8, most likely that is the problem.

 

You want modules that look like this...

It also needs to be 1.5V, non-ECC, and unbuffered.

Thank you for the advice I only have 4 chips on each side of the ram I bought at MicroCenter Mayfield HTs OH. 2 daz ago

I'm taking that stick back 2morrow and try 2 find an 8 chip.You guys and girls are great for advice I will let you know what happens my friends!!

hello,

         The Probook 6550b has two memory slots.I can see one that is underneath the laptop,where is the other one.I am talking about the RAM sims.Iwant to upgrade it to 8Gbytes.

Do I have to take the keyboard off?
