OfficeJet 4650
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hello,

For the two-sided pages, my OfficeJet 4650 prints the first side way too high (text starts about 1/4 inch from the top of the page), while the flip side is just fine (text starts about 1 full inch from the top of the page). If I check "fit to page" in the printing dialogue box, then the first side of the page prints fine (1 full inch from the top), while the flip side prints too low (about 1 1/2 inches from the top).

Is there a way for me to adjust the printer or software so that the text on both of the sides of the double-sided page is balanced (say, starting at 1 full inch from the top of either side)?

Thanks!

Max

Hi The Fossette,

The link in your reply was not helpful, as it did not address the concern that I mentioned in my original post.

Hi @Settembrini

I recommend you to try doing a copy and check if the issue persists in copying as well. If copy works fine then the issue is with the alignment in the software.

If the issue persists in copy as well then follow below steps.

a. Load letter or A4 unused plain white paper into the paper tray

b. Depending on your operating system, do one of the following to open the printer software:

  • Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP: From the computer desktop, click Start, select All Programs, click HP, click the folder for the printer, and then select the icon with the printer's name.

c. In the printer software, click Print, Scan & Fax , and then click Maintain Your Printer to access the Printer Toolbox.

d. In Printer Toolbox, click Align Ink Cartridges on the Device Services tab. The printer prints an alignment sheet.

e. Load the cartridge alignment sheet print side down on the right front corner of the scanner glass.

f. Follow the instructions on the printer display to align the cartridges. Recycle or discard the cartridge alignment sheet.

To align the cartridges from the printer display

a. Load Letter or A4 unused plain white paper into the input tray.

b. From the printer control panel display, touch Tools .

c. Touch Align Printer, and then follow the on-screen instructions.

Let me know how it goes.

Thank you, I'll be away from my office for a few days, but once I'm back I'll try it out and let you know how it goes.

Hi The_Fossette,

The issue did not persist when I printed a two-sided copy. It only persists if I print a two-sided document off of my computer. Please advise. Note that the link you originally provided (http://hp.care/2p2jcRv) is not helpful, as it does not address this issue.

Thanks!

Hi @Settembrini

If you are able to make copies fine, then the issue is with the settings in the application you are using. I recommend you to align the page correctly on the application and check if it helps.

I also recommend you to try using a different application if possible and check.

Let me know how it goes.

I understand that I need to align the page in the software - however I do not know how to do that. This is why I am posting here. Below is the snapshot of the software I am using to print. How would I fix the issue in this software - or, else, what other application could I use instead.

Thanks again.

Hi @Settembrini

I see that you are printing a PDF document. I recommend you to try printing as an image and check if it helps.

To print as image click on advanced and at the bottom, you will find print as image option.

Also, make sure that print on both sides is selected "Flip on short edge" and check.

Let me know how it goes.
