Sorry DillyD but I am sick and tired of waiting for instructions on how to do a soft reset or whatever is required to fix this issue.

I have purchased an epson now and the HP is relegated to the attic waiting a response.

HP support is a joke.

Report me if you like but it does not change the fact that HP support is a joke.

Have you still got the problem? "Rich1" from HP was very helpful to me and made me promise not to publish the solution (I guess it could make matters worse if it is a different problem, so should be used carefully). Other people have been helped by him. However, I can't raise him now and I suspect he has moved on. Given that and given that this is now quite old, I don't think it unreasonable if I pass on the info I have via PMs. UNLESS ANYONE FROM HP TELLS ME OTHERWISE.

Let me know if you are still stuck and I will write up what notes I have and send them via PM.
