If all special characters are not available on the keypad, what are my options? Do I need to hard wire the printer to my computer? If so, is there a special cable that is needed?

@Vanuku,

Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that you are unable to enter all special characters in the password while connecting your HP Officejet 4500 All-in-One Printer to the network.

In order to assist you better, please let us know the model number of the unit and the operating system installed on the computer from the links below:

1. Finding Your HP Product Model Number

2. Windows Operating System or Mac Operating System

Regarding the hard wire connection, you may use the USB cable. For ethernet cable, only some models support.

In the meantime, you may check the link to set up the printer using USB cable:  http://hp.care/2lTsKOv

Keep me posted.

You have a good day ahead.
