How can I turn off the setting that puts the numbers 001 on every photo I print?

What program are you printing from?  Numbering added to the print would typically be an option from the program you are using, not from the printer.

The program you are using to print is what is sending the information to the printer, through the driver.  It is possible that some drivers may have an option for a watermark to be printed on every page, but I have not seen this with the Photosmart Premium c310a.

 

If you open the picture you are going to print in Paint does the number show up?  If not then number is being added either by the program or by the driver.  Try printing from Paint - does the number show up now?  If not it was being added by the program you were using previously.
