Re: Officejet Pro 8500 Scan to network folder issue

Hi

It seems that the computer name does not really work in this scenario.

I used IP address instead (you can find your Mac's IP on the Network pane of the system preferences) and everything worked.

Also, you don't have to write the whole local path to your shared folder, like /Users/JAWA/....

Just write the folder name right after the IP address.

Here's my working example:

\\192.168.1.2\FaxInbox

Re: Officejet Pro 8500 Scan to network folder issue

I've done exactly as you've stated, but stll have issues.  I've got the e-mail issues working and scanning and printing fine wirelessly, but after DAYS of trial, I cannot get the Network folder issue.  Am I missing something?

Network Path:

\\192.168.1.1\MyScans

[ Edited ]

Please clarify which Mac OS version you are using, If it is Lion it may explain..

The feature will not work with Lion currently due to network sharing protocol changes of the OS.

You may find a detailed description below:

Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion): A 'Network Error' Message Displays when using Scan or Digital Fax to Network F...

Re: Officejet Pro 8500 Scan to network folder issue

Hi bchywomn,

Please try following the steps below:

1. Create a new folder on your PC

2. Right click (CTRL+Left click if using the Mac keyboard) it and then select Get Info.

3. unlock the screen, set the everyone term as Read & Write, located under Sharing & Permissions..

4. Enter System Preferences > Sharing and then select File Sharing from the left bar.

5. Click the Options button, mark the Share files and folders using SMB (Windows) and click Done

6. Under Sahred Folders, click the Plus sign and select the configured folder.

7. Make sure that "Everyone" permissions are set to Read & Write under the Users list as well.

8. You will see the IP Address listed at the top of that screen, take a note to configure it from the EWS page.

You should use the following path template:

//IP-ADRESS/Sahred-Folder-Name

Make sure to include your username and password while setting the network folder scan.

Re: Officejet Pro 8500 Scan to network folder issue

Hi Jay-p,

As the software been installed before the upgrade, it should continue working later.

However, the installation package is not supported by Lion.

Re: Officejet Pro 8500 Scan to network folder issue

I'm trying your suggestions, but no help yet on an iMac running Lion 10.7.2.  I have the latest HP drivers for my 8500A.

I'm confused about the direction of the slash marks in in the path, and obviously doing something wrong.

If I use the forward slash marks as in your illustration, I get a path error: "Invalid Input"

If I use backward slash marks as in the sample below the path window in the EWS page, I get a Network Error.

I've made all the other changes you suggested.

Much thanks for any help.
