This is an issue I've been facing for the past couple of months, but this issue it a rather strange case as while it is an audio issue, it does not have to do with the speakers, but rather with the adaptor that the device uses to connect headphones or other audio devices that use an audio jack into the computer. I also know that this is also not an issue with the headphones themselves, as this issue has occurred with multiple sets of headphones and the headphones will behave correctly on other devices.

The gist of the issue is that the computer sometimes fails to detect that the headphones are inside the computer (the headphones may randomly disconnect or fail to be detected at all even when the headphones are still connected to the headphone jack port and the headphones are in good condition. To add to the issue, the headphones may also play audio at the wrong volume or they may only output audio from one channel (again, I've observed with issue even with headphones that are in good condition). So, in conclusion, this is very likely a case of the hardware that allows the headphones to connect to the device malfunctioning, not an issue with the audio drivers or built-in speakers.

Has anyone else encountered this issue with HP-brand laptops for Windows 10? If so, what should be done to correct the issue in this specific case? This issue must be quite rare, as HP's virtual assistant does not come with any tools to correct the issue of the laptop's headphone jack adaptor malfunctioning or being damaged.
