I have an HP x360 Spectre. Love it. Only problem is the sound is not loud regardless of what setting you put it on.
I was looking for another inexpensive laptop and saw this one. Does anyone know or can tell me if the sound is low on this too no matter what?
Thank you. 🙂

Hi! @loriem, Thanks for stopping by HP forums!
I understand you have audio issues with your laptop.
Don't worry I will try to help you out.
Did you make any software or hardware changes on your laptop?
I have checked the records and found an advisory related to your issue.
The fix is to update the Realtek audio drivers.
Please find the link to update the audio drivers.
Refer article to know more information.
If the issue still persists uninstall the audio driver from device manager and install the audio driver using recovery manager.
To reinstall the original audio driver using HP Recovery Manager, follow the steps below:
Click Start, enter recovery into the search field and then select Recovery Manager from the list when it becomes available.
Grant permission to continue, if prompted. The HP Recovery Manager opens.
On the Recovery Manager window, select Hardware Driver Reinstallation in the I need help immediately box.
Click Next, select the sound driver to reinstall and then click Next.
Wait while HP Recovery Manager reinstalls the original audio driver, and then click Finish.
Let me know if this works!
Have a wonderful day ahead! 🙂

@loriem, Thanks for your generous response and time.
I appreciate your efforts for trying out the steps.
As you mentioned you updated the audio drivers but the issue still persists.
So did you try installing the audio driver using the recovery manager?
Also, try the steps recommended below.
Right-click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select 'Playback Devices'.
Left click the default device once to highlight it ( it's usually 'speakers & headphones' ) then click the Properties button.
Click the Enhancements tab and put a tick in the box next to 'Loudness Equalization'.
Click Apply to save the change and then click OK in all remaining windows
Hope to hear from you soon!
Take care! 🙂

Hi, Mr. R.
Yes, I actually HAVE done all of those things. And my HP doesn't have a loudness enhancement. I will check again to make sure that wasn't something I tried to do on another laptop, but I'm pretty sure it was for my Spectre. Thank you!

I had to sound redundant, but I did everything but update the BIOS. I did do what you suggested and changed the 16 to 24. It's on the highest quality now. I even tried again to update the drivers today and deleted both the Intel and the Realtek and both didn't help.
I'll try the BIOS now and see if it matters. The sounds is so low on my one program I use. Maybe it's just not compatible. But it's something I use for my profession, and I have no choice but to have a laptop that plays it loud. I have a Lenovo and there is no problem with the sound being too loud with that program, so SOMETHING is wrong here.

Well, I didn't update the default format for theh playback, or it didn't stick. So I did it again.
Then I downloaded and installed the BIOS update for this computer.
Bottom line: WOW! SO MUCH BETTER!!!
Thank you so much for sticking with me. I can actually hear on this program. I don't know which one did it, but it works MUCH better now. I really appreciate your help.
