Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit)

 After I disconnected my Bose QC 35, my laptop stopped detecting any audio speakers, including the jack and the pre installed audio speakers. Please help, this is getting rather irritating.

It is great to have you back and your patience is greatly appreciated.

 

Did the issue start after Windows update? If yes, then follow the below steps.

 

Some of our computers were affected with the audio issue due to an update from Intel.

 

HP and Intel are working together to provide a fix at the earliest.

 

As a workaround, request you open device manager by doing a right-click on the Windows button/menu.

  1. Expand “Sound, Video and Game controllers” or under “other devices” in Device manager.
  2. To find the audio drivers installed on your computer.
  3. Right-click on the audio drivers listed there and uninstall the Intel high definition audio and Realtek audio drivers listed there.
  4. Delete the drivers if prompted during the uninstall process.
  5. Once done, click on View and select Devices by connection on the Device manager.
  6. Expand ACPI x64 based PC.
  7. Expand PCI Express Root complex and right-click on Intel Smart Sound technology Audio controller and uninstall the device.
  8. Make sure to delete the driver if prompted during the uninstall process.
  9. Once done, click on Action and Scan for hardware changes twice in the device manager.
  10. Close device manager.
  11. Open Settings from the Windows menu.
  12. Click on Update and Security and check for updates to get the new audio driver for your computer.

This should resolve the issue you are facing.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

 

In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.

  • When was the last time the computer was working fine?
  • Have you made any software or hardware changes on the computer?
  • Have you performed any troubleshooting steps before posting?

While you respond to that, I recommend you root uninstall the audio driver from device manager and then reinstall it from the below link and check whether the issue is resolved.

Here is how it is done.

  1. Start Control Panel, click Hardware and Sound, and then click Device Manager.
  2. Expand the node that represents the type of device that you want to uninstall, right-click the device entry, and click Uninstall.
  3. On the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click OK to start the uninstall process.
  4. When the uninstall process is complete, remove the device.

NOTE: On the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click the Delete the driver software for this device option to delete the driver package that was used for the device.

No, I have not made any hardware or software changes .

Yes,  I tried Windows troubleshooter but it has not identified he problem.
