Hi @MarekUK,

Thank you for the update. Making the new account Admin and deleting the original account would have been my suggestion also. HI @MarekUK,

Thank you for your query. I will do my utmost to help you. When I searched for your model, I got multiple results as there should some letters after the 15-ab15 such as na, cl or no, just to mention some. HP Notebook PCs - How Do I Find My Model Number, Serial Number or Product Number?

I grasp that when you connect your earphones the task bar will go blank and become unresponsive. You have been able to overcome this by restarting. When you restart are the earphones connected or disconnected?  Try uninstalling and reinstalling the sound driver? Have you tried a different account and do you have the same issue? While I wait for your reply, you can run check disk.

  • type chkdsk C: /f and press enter.

Hi Sparkles1,

thanks for getting back to me ... well ... back to your questions:

My model name ends with "sa" thus ab15as. After restart I have earplugs disconnected. I haven't tried to leave them in. I was experimenting a bit with it and tried to remove B&O software with driver and leave just generic Realtek audio driver that Windows  downloads automatically. It works fine with plugs or without but I'm sorry that B&O driver isn't working properly. I've not used earplugs much recently but I will sooner or later and would certainly welcome anything that might help. Also tried reinstall B&O driver (that goes without saying). Not really sure what you mean by "different account". Can you please clear that one up for me ?

Thanks again ....

Hi @MarekUK,

Thank you for the update. I am still unable to locate your precise model as it seems we are missing a number. I found models such as Pavilion Notebook 15-ab215ng.  Would you please check again.  In Windows you can have multiple accounts, allowing other users to keep their own settings and rights. Here is a link that should help. Create a local user account in Windows 10(from support.microsoft.com).

I double checked the box and you're right. I missed a number. It's ab150sa. Whole name HP Pavilion 15 - ab150sa. Sorry about that.

You meant user account in Windows. Well no I haven't tried that either. Might be worth give it a go though ....

Hey Sparkles1,

I've made some changes. And I can see you know what kind of questions to ask. Okay here it goes .... I created temporary account in Windows and tested out how Windows responds to when I plug in my earphones. Guess what ... all just fine like it supposed to. All responsive just ace !

But when I switched back to my admin account and plugged in the earphones ... guess what .... taskbar goes on holidays again. Odd hmm ? It doesn't make any logical sense. One system just different account and Windows behaves differently to a simple task. Very strange bug.

I haven't answered one more question yet ..... what if you restart computer with earphones plugged in ? Did that and and my taskbar in admin account works fine. Only to the moment when I unplug it. Goes on summer break again.

Hope I provided enough info about my system's behaviour.

I reckon I'll make the other account admin too, personalize it to my image, delete the buggy one and life happily ever after ....
