Hello @peace4q1,
Welcome back to the Support Forum Community!
I read all of your posts on the HP Support Forums and wanted to reach out to help you!
I understand you are having issues with the audio software/settings being lost on your Pavilion dv7 notebook
When was the software last working correctly for you? What led you to reinstall it? When you reinstalled the software did you use the recovery manager?
To begin with you will want to make sure all of your drivers for your notebook are up to date.
I have found this document has quite detailed troubleshooting for various audio driver or software issues.
Please get back to me how this goes. To show that you like, or are thankful of my post, kindly click the Thumbs up below.
Thanks!

I had the hard drive removed and replaced as it was failing & the tech did not reinstall the audio software. Instead of bringing it back for something I could do myself, I installed the software. For some reason, after I wrote about this problem, the audio started working the way it is supposed to ???
Thank you for your response, it is valuable to be reminded how important it is to make sure drivers are current!
