EliteBook 8460p
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

For the past week or so, my laptop will seldom start, and when it does, it shows that the HP BIOS is corrupt or missing. I tried updating the BIOS to no avail. What is strange is that I have to hold the power button down while holding the QuickWeb button to get it to boot up at all. When updating the BIOS didn't work, I followed directions to hold the Windows key and B key down at the same time, then holding the power button down for 2-3 seconds, releasing the power button and holding down the Windows and B keys down, which is supposed to start the BIOS update. Nope! When I clicked on the QuickWeb button too, the QuickWeb LED light stayed on, and the only way that I could turn off the computer was to remove the AC adapter and the computer battery.

How can I correct the BIOS? I couldn't even turn the computer on for several days, trying numerous times during each day.

Thanks, in advance, for your help.
