Elitebook 850 G3
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I just received a new Elitebook 850 G3 with Windows 7 preinstalled. I was planning on doing a clean install of Win10 using an USB drive created with the media creation tool on another machine. But when I boot the machine with USB-drive plugged in, the machine hangs with a black screen and the indication led of the USB-drive is flickering like crazy, and after a while the fan of the notebook starts to work at full speed.

Which settings do I need to change in the BIOS to be able to boot with this USB-drive?

Would it help if I create the USB-drive from the machine itself using the media creation tool?

And what about activation of this Win10, will it automatically fetch the key from the BIOS?

I do have the recovery media for the device but currently don't have an external optical drive to use them.

Thank you for your assistance.

Kind regards

Guy
