Hi,

I've had a HP Elitebook 6730b for a few years but recently I've had some issues with it.

The computer has the stock P8600 intel CPU but I've upgraded the ram to 4GB.

Now the issues...

The CPU multiplier drops to 1 often , bringing the frequency from the stock 2.6Ghz to 266Mhz. (one strange thing I noticed is that this CPU is supposed to run with a  x8 multi at 2.4 Ghz but often goes up to x9.5 and even x10 and it has always been like that from the moment it left the box over 8 years ago)

First I thought this was due to the new Win 10 Creators upgrade but I quickly found out this had nothing to do with the OS as it also occurs during boot or when running Linux.

I've come across some posts that suggest to clear the bios. I've done this and also reset it to defaults but the problem persisted.

I've also upgraded the bios to the latest version with no success.

I've noticed that the frequency drops occur more often when I move the laptop, or when it is placed at unconventional positions. Could this be related to a fault in the 3D driveguard? If so Is there any way to disable this hardware?
What other options do I have?

Thank you and Regards
